Ron DeSantis has warned that Hurricane Ian is 'knocking on the door' of a Category 5 storm and wants Floridians to prepare for ‚Äėmajor impact‚Äô ahead of making landfall with winds hitting 155pmh. Hurricane Ian is battering Florida‚Äôs west coast as multiple tornados are sweeping waves of destruction through the Sunshine State. The Category 4 storm is nearing Category 5 hours before it is set to make landfall in Florida, after leaving two dead in Cuba and decimating swathes of the island. Tampa is bracing for 6ft storm surge before landfall this afternoon, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis telling those who have remained in the red evacuation zones that it is time to 'hunker down' and 'prepare for the storm'. DeSantis warned those in Collier, Charlotte and Sarasota county that it was 'too late' to leave and urged anyone still out on the roads to get to a 'safe place as soon as possible.' He added that Ian was 'knocking on the door' of a Category 5, and confirmed that 100,000 homes have already been reported across the state. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for four counties, including Sarasota and Manatee, which will be in effect until 5pm on Wednesday. Officials have warned that the storm surge could reach 12ft, with deadly winds and flooding along the state's heavily populated Gulf Coast from Bonita Beach to the Tampa Bay region. Damages are expected to reach $45billion as the storm continues to grow in strength, as more than two million Floridians have been urged to evacuate.¬†

'It's not the time to point score': Don Lemon is silenced AGAIN by a CNN guest after trying to blame Hurricane Ian on 'climate change'

As Hurricane Ian approached Florida threatening to bring billions of dollars in damage and place millions of Floridians in immediate danger, CNN host Don Lemon spent an interview asking a hurricane expert whether climate change was to blame for Ian, only to be shut down, repeatedly. Lemon, who recently escaped a network purge of some of the most left-wing talent at the company, attempted to turn the conversation political. Rohme quickly shut down the line of questioning, saying that he would rather focus on the present circumstances of the storm, adding, 'I don't think you can link climate change to any one event.'

CIA 'warned about underwater drone attack on Nord Stream pipes WEEKS ago': Kremlin dismisses 'stupid' claims it was behind sabotage on key gas supply to Europe

Western leaders and experts say the two key gas links that serve Europe were 'sabotaged' by Russia to cause further energy chaos on the continent and cause an 'environmental catastrophe', which the Kremlin has denied. Video shared by the Swedish Coast Guard shows a frothing jet of water spewing above the waves northeast of the Danish island of Bornholm after one of the ruptures, causing a kilometre-wide surface disturbance. The EU strongly believes the pipes were deliberately attacked and warned of a 'robust and united response' to whoever was responsible. It was revealed last night that the CIA warned weeks ago the pipes could be attacked after agents sent a 'strategic warning' to European allies including Germany, sources told Der Spiegel last night.

'The birthplace of liberty is a cesspool': Crime wave sweeps 'lawless' Philadelphia with more than 750 people shot dead since Memorial Day and rampant smash-and-grabs wrecking businesses

Since Memorial Day, shootings and assaults in the supposed City of Brotherly Love has been rife, with gun violence being particularly relentless. Shootings have occurred every day of the week and at any given hour of the day since May 31 - with nearly every corner of the city impacted. The crime wave, meanwhile, has spared no one - with one incident this past week seeing a Temple University grad murdered by a masked gunman while walking the street, and another claiming the life of a 14-year-old football player when he was heading home from a school scrimmage. Mass looting and other brazen assaults have also been commonplace, such as one over the weekend that saw more than 100 children as young as 10 storm and ransack a Wawa convenience store. In another, filmed incident, a commuter was held at gunpoint by a masked marauder while waiting for the subway - further outraging fed-up Philadelphians. The steady stream of violent episodes spurred city officials - including progressive Mayor Jim Kenney - to stage a meeting last month behind closed doors to discuss ways to reduce the violence. However, despite this, gun violence has been on the rise, causing many to speak out against the city's soft-on-crime policies and politicians, calling for change in a city that has been touted as the birthplace of American democracy.

'It will NEVER get a smile from me': Dolphins special teams coach is NOT  amused by 'butt punt' in 21-19 win over Bills

The mistake made by Miami Dolphins punter Thomas Morstead was a funny accident to most of the world - that is, most of the world outside the Dolphins locker room. With the team backed into his own end zone, in the dying stages of a tight game against the Bills, leading 21-17, Morstead had very little room to execute a punt to push Buffalo back with a chance for them to win the game. Instead, Morstead couldn't find enough clearance between himself and the offensive line and punted the ball into the backside of special teamer Trent Sherfield. The punt went off Sherfield and out of bounds for a safety.

A breathy, believable Marilyn Monroe... and some brutal truths laid bare: BRIAN VINER reviews Blonde, featuring Ana de Armas as the Hollywood icon

BRIAN VINER: Maybe only Diana, Princess of Wales, holds a candle in the wind to Marilyn Monroe as a 20th century icon still subject to rumour, gossip and intrigue. They were both just 36 when they died. Judging by the fuss surrounding the mighty Netflix picture Blonde, which lasts for the best part of three hours, that enduring fascination might actually be intensifying. The movie is an adaptation of the Joyce Carol Oates novel, a fictionalised account of Monroe's life, which ran to more than 700 pages. I read it once on holiday and needed another holiday when I finished it. It was pretty hard going. So, in many ways, is the film. Writer-director Andrew Dominik also made The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (2007), which was admired by some and left others scratching their heads. He specialises in a brand of whimsy that is given full throttle in Blonde, yet I liked it much more than I expected.
